Supported by Portuguese capital, we have diversified, internationalized and strengthened our operation.     Grupo ETE began in 1936 with its first company “Empresa de Tráfego e Estiva, S.A.”, founded by Captain Luiz de Figueiredo, grandfather of the current shareholders, specializing as a port operator in the midstream loading and unloading of solid bulk cargos. At the time it was considered to be an innovative, efficient and revolutionary technique, reducing the permanent clogging of ships at Portuguese ports and high port costs and charges.

  • 1950

    Start of loading and unloading midstream operations of solid bulk. Being a pioneer in this type of operations, Grupo ETE has brought innovative solution and countless advantages for the business and its clients, resulting in lower costs and waiting periods for the ships.

  • 1968

    Start of operations with floating cranes. Grupo ETE becomes a pioneer in operations with floating cranes in Portugal, having acquired its first ones in Germany.

  • 1982

    Introduction of the pusher + barge system. Grupo ETE has introduced the first standard barges and implemented pushers to replace the traditional tugboats. In the same year, it acquired the floating crane “Mestre Janota”.

  • 1992

    Concession by Portsines of TMS - Sines Multipurpose Terminal, operating mainly on unloading and dispatching of coal to EDP thermal power plants in Sines and Tejo Energia in Pego. Other types of general cargo can also be accommodated.

  • 1993

    Acquisition of Socarmar.

  • 1994

    Restoring the regular liner service to Madeira and Azores with Vieira & Silveira.

  • 1999

    Acquisition of Transinsular, Transportes Marítimos Insulares, SA a shipping line. Afterwards the Group became the largest national ship-owner, which opened new possibilities in terms of operations and business. As a part of Grupo ETE, Transinsular became capable of providing transportation solutions with integrated intermodal services.

  • 2000

    New port concessions in Portugal.

  • 2001

    Creation of shared services. Grupo ETE takes an important step forward in what concerns company efficiency by creating a company of shared services, common to all of its companies including law, IT services, accounting and human resources management.

  • 2002

    Grupo ETE reinforces its short sea shipping fleet in Mozambique.

  • 2008

    Creation of ETE Logistica, as a result of the reorganization and reorganization of different forwarding companies. This has allowed the Group to secure a larger market share in container handling and to reinforce its presence in the entire logistics chai...

  • 2011

    Beginning of operations in Uruguay.

  • 2012

    Beginning of operations in Colombia.

  • 2015

    Building of the first tugboat. One of the Group companies, Navaltagus a shipyard, has started a Portuguese matured and innovative project by building a pusher-tug boat for ETE fleet. The vessel has a small draft, it is short in length and it has a high power - features that are ideal to its operations in river areas of small drafts.

  • 2016

    Construction of tugboat " Baía do Seixal" for Lisbon and " Punta Tigre " for Uruguay.

  • 2017

    Acquisition of 1st Vessel Tanker - São Jorge.

  • 2018

    Expansão da Frota de Rebocadores.Construção do workboat multi-craft “ Punta Tigre",no Estaleiro Navaltagus, do Grupo ETE, com o objetivo de apoiar a operação da Transfluvial no Uruguai.Posteriormente foi ainda construído um novo workboat, com as mesmas características – “Cachão da Valeira” - que apoia a operação da Administração do Porto do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo.

    Public service concession for inter-island passenger and cargo transport in Cape Verde (CV Interilhas)

  • 2020

    ETE Logistixx, a joint venture with Steelduxx ( Belgium), focused on trade between Northern Europe and the locations where the Grupo ETE is present or has established partnerships

  • 2021

    Nanami Shipping -joint venture with Steelduxx (Bélgica), TST ( Japan) and Sevenlog (Ghana). This partnership has the objetcives of extending its international reach, acting as a logistics integrador to promote trade between Asia, Europe and Africa.
